O presente artigo se insere no campo de investigação da Educação Superior no que diz
respeito à consolidação da pesquisa em uma universidade comunitária, que se constitui em um
modelo de diferenciação das instituições de ensino superior. O objetivo deste artigo centra-se
em analisar e compreender o processo de consolidação da pesquisa na Universidade de Passo
Fundo. O artigo foi dividido em dois itens: o entrelaçamento entre a Universidade Brasileira e
a Comunitária e o entrelaçamento institucional entre a gestão universitária e as polÃticas de
pesquisa. Os encaminhamentos conclusivos resgatam os avanços e desafios da pesquisa.
The following article is inserted in the Higher Education research field regarding the
research consolidation in a community university, which is established in a higher education
institution differentiation pattern. The objective of this article centers to analyze and
understand the research consolidation process at Universidade de Passo Fundo. The article
was divided in two items: the tangle between Brazilian universities and Community
universities and the institutional tangle between the university management and the research
policies. The conclusive guiding brings back the research advances and challenges.
