A preocupação com o meio ambiente não é atual, mas foi nas últimas décadas que tornou-se explÃcito a
necessidade de preservação deste em prol das futuras gerações. A garantia da preservação do meio ambiente
nas atividades produtivas é questão que vem preocupando cada vez mais a sociedade mundial e que
influencia fortemente no ajuste competitivo das empresas, em uma economia mais aberta e integrada. Cresce
nas organizações a preocupação em atingir e demonstrar um desempenho ambiental correto motivado pelas
pressões de ordem econômica, pelo contexto da legislação ambiental cada vez mais exigente e pela crescente
pressão da sociedade civil em relação às questões ambientais e ao desenvolvimento sustentável, de forma a
assegurar, aos consumidores que os produtos e serviços oferecidos utilizem, cada vez menos, recursos
ambientais não-renováveis. A questão da preservação e conservação ambiental deve, então, ser vista como
uma questão de inteligência. Isso porque, independentemente do grau de consciência sobre suas ações, todos
dependem, de forma direta ou indireta, de recursos naturais, disseminando a possibilidade de fazer acontecer
e tornar real o novo, necessário e irreversÃvel caminho de mudanças. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho foi
desenvolvido com o objetivo de evidenciar através de estudo de caso, práticas adotadas pela Petrobras para
minimizar os impactos ambientais referentes às suas atividades operacionais. Como resultado deste estudo
fica evidenciado que a Petrobras é uma empresa comprometida com as questões ambientais.
The preoccupation with the environment is not current, but it was in the last decades that one returned I set
the necessity of preservation out of this on behalf of the future generations. The guarantee of the preservation
of the environment in the productive activities is a question that is preoccupying more and more the
worldwide society and that influences strongly the competitive agreement of the enterprises, in a more open
and integrated economy. The preoccupation grows in the organizations in reaching and demonstrate an
environmental correct performances caused by the pressures of economical order, by the context of the more
and more demanding environmental legislation and by the growing pressure of the civil society regarding the
environmental questions and the sustainable development, of form to secure, to the consumers that the
products and offered services use, more and more, non-renewable environmental resources. The question of
the preservation and environmental conservation must be seen, then, as a question of intelligence. That
because, independently on the degree of conscience on his actions, all they depend, in the direct or indirect
form, on natural resources, disseminating the possibility to make happening and making real the new,
necessary one and irreversible one, way of changes. In this context, the present work was developed by theobjective to show up through case study, practices adopted by the Petrobras to minimize the environmental
impacts referring to his operational activities. When since it resulted from this study it it is shown up that the
Petrobras is an enterprise made a commitment to the environmental questions.
