Este artigo revisita pontos da sócio-história da língua portuguesa no Brasil, trazendo dados breves sobre eventos históricos que tentam explicar alguns porquês da formação do português brasileiro. Para tanto, apresenta uma “agenda” que traz algumas notícias sobre a língua desde o início da colonização do Brasil até os dias atuais com as considerações referentes às teses que dialogam ainda sobre supostas verdades a respeito da gênese da língua portuguesa no Brasil até chegar na atual situação linguística brasileira.

This article reviews some of the socio-history of the Portuguese language in Brazil, bringing brief data on historical events that try to explain some of the reasons for the formation of Brazilian Brazil. To do so, it presents an "agenda" that brings some news about a language from the beginning of the colonization of Brazil to the present day as considerations referring to the theses that still talk about alleged truths about the genesis of the Portuguese language not Brazil until the current RN Brazilian linguistic situation.
