Os serviços de saneamento básico deveriam estar presentes em todos os lugares e serem eficientes, mas infelizmente isso não acontece, aumentando a cada dia o número de doenças e mortes no mundo por causa da falta destes serviços. Ao notar a relevância do saneamento para a vida e saúde das pessoas, o que inclui em uma escala mais ampla a saúde ambiental também, é de nosso encargo procurar que ele se efetive em todos os lugares, seja na zona urbana ou rural, pois todos merecem e têm direito aos serviços básicos que garantam a saúde e bem-estar da sociedade. Mediante isto, este trabalho tem como objetivo principal analisar as condições do saneamento básico do sítio Paul no município de Riacho de Santana/RN. Para isso, foram utilizadas entrevistas aplicadas à população que reside no Sítio Paul, ao agente de saúde, ao secretário de meio ambiente e ao gestor público municipal. Os resultados alcançados deixam claro que o Sítio Paul não disponibiliza de um sistema de esgotamento sanitário apropriado, os resíduos sólidos são dispostos inadequadamente, sem nenhum tipo de coleta, uma correta destinação e tratamento. A água que chega às residências é um serviço obtido com recursos próprios dos moradores, já que praticamente todos pagaram para perfurar um poço artesiano ou utilizam a água de cacimbão familiar. Portanto, esta comunidade rural não conta com um sistema de saneamento básico adequado, ou seja, condições sanitárias que atendam as reais necessidades da sua população.

The basic sanitation services should be present in all places and be effective, but unfortunately, it does not happen, increasing the number of illnesses and deaths in the world every day because of the lack of these services. Noticing the importance of sanitation for the people´s lives and health, and it also includes, in a broader scale, the environmental health, it is our responsible that it effects itself everywhere, whether in urban or rural area, because everybody deserve it and they are entitled to basic services that ensure the health and wellbeing of society. Through this, this work has the objective to analyze the sanitation conditions of Paul farm in Riacho de Santana/RN/ Brazil. For this, interviews were applied to the population that lives there, to health agents, to the Municipal Environment Secretary and the Public Manager. The results make it clear that the Paul farm does not provide a proper sanitation system, the solid residues are inadequately prepared, without any type of collection, proper disposal and treatment. The water that comes to homes is a service from the residents’ own resources, since all of them paid to drill a borehole or use the water of a familiar water hole. Therefore, this rural community has not a proper sanitation system, that is, sanitary conditions that meet the real needs of its population.
