Este artigo aborda o estudo de caso referente às homenagens religiosas ao Orixá da doçura e do amor, Oxum, e à santa imaculada da paz, harmonia e amor, Nossa Senhora da Imaculada Conceição, realizadas no dia 8 de dezembro de 2014. As mesmas compõem o ciclo de manifestações culturais na cidade de Rio Grande-RS/Brasil. Esta leitura sobre os eventos culturais religiosos objetiva contextualizar o termo sincretismo, na pesquisa em Geografia da Religião; compreendê-lo como um aporte de uma abordagem cultural religiosa junto à análise da pesquisa qualitativa geográfica. Neste sentido, o artigo é resultado de reflexões concernentes às observações em dois eventos religiosos que se comunicam e constituem uma linguagem singular pelos indivíduos contemplativos, sob as contribuições da Geografia, da Filosofia e da Sociologia. Assim, a exposição do tema apresenta-se organizada em duas etapas: a primeira visa direcionar um olhar panorâmico à abordagem do conteúdo do conceito sincretismo; a segunda realiza uma reflexão referente ao estudo de caso, a sua relação prática com os religiosos. Nesta perspectiva, a pesquisa, como subsídio social, permite uma leitura geográfica cultural, desprovida de prejuízo, ao manusear cientificamente os eventos religiosos por meio da abordagem in loco, ressaltando a liberdade religiosa.

This article approaches the case study in relation to the religious tributes to Orixá of sweetness and of love, Oxum, and to the immaculate saint of peace, harmony and love, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, occurred in December 8, 2014. They compound the cycle of cultural manifestations in the city of Rio Grande-RS Brazil. This reading about the cultural religious events aims to contextualize the term syncretism, in the research in Geography of Religion; then to understand as a contribution of a cultural religious approach with the analysis of geographic qualitative research. In this sense, the article is a result of concerning reflections to observations in two religious events, which communicate and constitute a singular language by the contemplative individuals, these under the contributions of Geography, of Philosophy and of Sociology. Then, the exposition of the subject present itself organized in two steps: the first aims to direct a panoramic look to the approach of the content of the concept syncretism; the second makes a reflection in relation to the case study, its practical relation the religious. In this perspective, the research, as a social subside, to allow a cultural geographic reading, without loss, in handling scientifically the religious events by means of in loco approach, expressing the religious freedom.
