O presente artigo dedica-se à análise dos livros Jalan Jalan: uma leitura do mundo e O vício dos livros, de Afonso Cruz. Essas obras configuram uma espécie de coletâneas narrativas que se desdobram em estórias, anedotas, ficções, reflexões e memórias pessoais centradas no fascínio pelos livros e pela leitura. Ao evidenciar a importância do ato de ler, Cruz desvela para o seu leitor a influência de diversos autores e o seu vínculo afetivo estabelecido com as personagens, entre outras peripécias narrativas; os textos revelam que, mais do que uma simples ode aos livros e à leitura, constituem um convite a um percurso pela memória e pela biblioteca pessoal de uma das vozes mais expressivas da literatura portuguesa contemporânea.
The present article focuses on an analysis of Afonso Cruz’s books Jalan Jalan: uma leitura do mundo and O vício dos livros. These works constitute a kind of narrative collection that unfolds into stories, anecdotes, fictions, reflections, and personal memories centered on the fascination with books and reading. By highlighting the importance of the act of reading, Cruz reveals to the reader the influence of various authors and the affective bonds he establishes with characters, among other narrative intricacies. The texts show that, more than a simple ode to books and reading, they form an invitation to journey through the memory and personal library of one of the most expressive voices in contemporary Portuguese literature.
