Resumos Cadastrados

This article considers how mysticism is presented in Hilda Hilst’s writing, evaluating the variety of applications of the term in her literary universe: mysticism is often used to denote vaguely any kind of spiritualism, any religious attitude or experience, or, in the strictes sense, the direct, intuitional evidence of God. The study analyses the significant of ecstasy and distress in her works, where the characters deals with the supernatural and the Absolut –where the Divine seems distant– and have a deep crisis of faith in God. Also, it reviews and evaluates thematic choices, such as grief, pessimism and tragedy, in wich Hilst treats dereliction as a literary device, using it, as a symbolic representation of the lack of sense and meaning of existence.
