This article presents results from the research project "Journalism and the Amazon environment: extreme weather conditions covered by the Manaus press". Research was conducted by the Laboratory of Advanced Studies in Journalism on the Amazon (LABJAM) and looked at the media coverage on the 2005 and 2010 Amazon droughts from two of the major newspapers in Manaus. The research highlighted the lack of information provided by the media on issues of global climate change and its effects for the residents of Manaus.
