Neste estudo, reflete-se sobre a tradição discursiva na historiografia do Cinema Novo brasileiro. Busca-se averiguar e relatar as considerações que surgem ao se colocar lado a lado uma reflexão teórica sobre o lugar da tradi- ção discursiva no campo da historiografia e, de outro, o atual panorama de pesquisa em Cinema Novo produzida pelos corpos discentes dos Programas de Pós-Graduação de cinco universidades federais brasileiras, baseando- -se em uma análise quantitativa bibliométrica. A fundamentação teórica que guia o estudo passa por autores dos Estudos Culturais (Giddens, Hall), perspectivas críticas dos discursos históricos (Derrida, Ferro, Murphey, Iggers) e saberes da ciência da informação (Caregnato e Mutti, Araújo, Stumpf e Branco, Yu e Ding). A justificativa encontrada foi a ausência de uma revisão dos dados sobre pesquisa em Cinema Novo em teses e disserta- ções no atual estado da arte. A conclusão do estudo aponta para uma hegemonia referencial e uma tradição discursiva sobre o tema. Essa afirmação se organiza ao redor de quatro autores encontrados, referenciados numa proporção muito maior do que as demais fontes historiográficas.

This study reflects on the discursive tradition in the historiography of the Brazilian New Cinema. The aim is to ascertain and report the considerations that arise when a theoretical reflection on the place of discursive tradition in the field of historiography is put side by side with the current panorama of New Cinema research produced by the student bodies of Postgraduate Programs at five Brazilian federal universities, based on a bibliometric quantitative analysis. The theoretical framework that guides the study includes the authors of Cultural Studies (Giddens, Hall), critical perspectives of historical discourse (Derrida, Ferro, Murphey, Iggers), and the knowledge of information science (Caregnato and Mutti, Araújo, Stumpf, and Branco, Yu, and Ding). Justification for the study was the absence of a review of data on research in New Cinema in theses and dissertations in the current state of the art. The conclusion points to a reference hegemony and a discursive tradition on the subject. This statement is organized around four authors, referenced a much higher proportion than other historiographical sources.
