Os estudos sobre consumo de energia elétrica no Amapá têm por finalidade apresentar uma abordagem histórica voltada à compreensão sobre os fatores que demandaram o aumento deste. Diante desse contexto de evolução da energia elétrica, surgiu o seguinte questionamento: quais as dificuldades e transformações o setor energético sofreu no estado do Amapá no período de 1990 a 2010. Como metodologia, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico em artigos, dissertações, livros e sites. Os resultados mostram que o estado teve um crescimento populacional no período investigado, o que influenciou no aumento do consumo de energia. Uma vez que as discussões aqui neste trabalho tornearam a pouca demanda de energia em relação aos demais estados, pode-se perceber que a evolução desse setor, se deu não só no crescente consumo local nos últimos anos, mas também, na exportação de energia, o que se torna viável para a instalação de grandes projetos no local.

This article aims to present a linear historical approach to the energy sector in the state of Amapá. In seeking to understand the process of evolution of electric power, the following question arose: what difficulties and changes the energy sector suffered in the state of Amapá in 1990 and 2010? The hypothesis presented, points to a considerable population swelling, which strangled the power supply and after that period the integration of the National Interconnected System. To accomplish this research, it was necessary to review the literature in articles, dissertations, books and websites to get the history of Amapá and understand the way that the energy sector has in the mentioned period. The results show that the State had rather a population growth in the period investigated, as well as increased energy consumption, which increased fuel consumption for supply of Santana fuel, since it was this plant that supported the UHCN. Once the discussions here in this work tornearam the little relation in energy demand to other states, can be seen that the evolution of this sector, it has not only the growing local consumption in recent years, but the export of energy, it becomes feasible for the installation of large projects in the state.
