Este artigo discute a trajetória institucional da Feevale, uma das Instituições Comunitárias de Ensino Superior do Rio Grande do Sul que se localiza na cidade de Novo Hamburgo. Essa instituição foi criada no ano de 1970, e desde seu surgimento comprometeu-se com o desenvolvimento local e regional. Nesse trabalho, realizamos uma reconstrução da história da Feevale, o que nos permite compreender sua identidade, história e trajetória. Para tanto, utilizamos documentos oficiais desta instituição de ensino, permeados por depoimentos obtidos através da metodologia da história oral e que abarcaram diferentes aspectos da história institucional, principalmente a memória de seus dirigentes, professores e funcionários. Além disso, analisamos o surgimento e organização do Centro de Documentação Institucional, identificando-o com um importante elemento de preservação da história da Feevale e das comunidades circunvizinhas em suas trajetórias sociais e nas múltiplas articulações com a instituição.

This article discusses the institutional history of Feevale, which is one of Rio Grande do Sul’s Community Higher Education Institutions and is located in the city of Novo Hamburgo. The institution was founded in 1970, and since its establishment it has committed itself to local and regional development. In this paper we reconstruct the history of Feevale, which in turn allows us to understand its identity, its history and the path it has taken to arrive at its current position. We have based this reconstruction on the official institutional documents interspersed with statements obtained using oral history methodology and which deal with other aspects of the institution’s history, primarily the memory of its directors, professors and workers. We also analyze the emergence and organization of the Institutional Documentation Center, identifying it as an important element in preserving the history of Feevale and of the surrounding communities’ social development and their multiple points of contact with the institution.
