A CORRENTE DO BEM1: PENSANDO A DÁDIVA E O ELO SOCIAL

Resumo Português:

O presente artigo vem contribuir com a discussão acerca da teoria da dádiva, e de
seus principais postulados, no que concerne a sua possibilidade explicativa em relação ao
complexo social. Nesse sentido, retomaremos e esclareceremos alguns aspectos de tal teoria
numa explanação sistemática, levantando, também, outras questões que acreditamos serem
fundamentais e que estão no cerne do que se compreende por elo social. Com a finalidade de
oferecer uma ilustração clara e coerente da dádiva, apoiaremos nossa exposição conceitual na
representação construída no filme “A corrente do bem”, apontando, a partir da análise dessa
narrativa, o estabelecimento da espiral da dádiva. Nesse sentido, nosso estudo se define,
metodologicamente, como uma análise da narrativa fílmica: interessa-nos situações e
comportamentos sociais que estão expostos no filme e que podem nos ajudar a refletir sobre a
dádiva.

Resumo Inglês:

The current article contributes to the discussion about the theory of the gift, and its
main postulates, about their possible explanation in relation to the social complex. In this
sense, we will retake and clarify some aspects of this theory in a systematic explanation,
raising also other issues that we believe are fundamental and which are the heart of what is
meant by social bond. In order to provide a consistent and clear illustration of the gift, we will
support our conceptual exposure in the representation constructed in the film “Pay It
Forward”, pointing from the analysis of this narrative, the establishment of the spiral of the
gift. In this sense, our study is defined, methodologically, as an analysis of filmic narrative:
we are interested in social situations and behaviors that are exposed in the film and that can
help us reflect on the gift.
