A presente pesquisa é norteada com a seguinte questão: qual o perfil da violência contra mulheres notificada no município de Araguaína? O objetivo deste artigo é caracterizar os casos de violência contra a mulher, registrados pelo Sistema de Informação e Agravos de Notificação (SINAN) em Araguaína no estado do Tocantins, Brasil no ano de 2014. Trata-se de um estudo transversal descritivo em que os dados foram coletados na Vigilância Epidemiológica (VE). A maior parte das vítimas de violência correspondeu a mulheres jovens, de baixa escolaridade, de cor não branca, solteiras, encaminhadas após a agressão para o serviço ambulatorial e hospitalar. Os responsáveis pela agressão foram, em sua grande maioria, os cônjuges, namorados ou excompanheiros. A maioria das vítimas sofreu a violência em suas residências, por meio de espancamento e seus agressores apresentavam embriaguez no momento que praticavam o ato violento. Os resultados, portanto, permitem a busca e o estudo de novas práticas na área da saúde

The question which is set at the start of this research is the following one: what is the profile of the reported violence against women in the municipality of Araguaína? The objective of this paper is to characterize the cases of violence against women, reported by the Notification Aggravation Information System (SINAN) in Araguaína, Tocantins, Brazil, in the year 2014. It refers to a descriptive cross-sectional study, which data were collected in the Epidemiological Surveillance. The majority of the victims of violence corresponded to young women, with low schooling, non-white, single, and it was sent to the ambulatory and hospital service after the aggression. Those responsible for the aggression were, in the great majority, the spouses, boyfriends or expartner. Most of the victims suffered domestic violence through beating and their aggressors used alcoholic beverages at the time they practiced the violent act. Therefore, the results show the necessity of searching and studying new practices on health.
